PAS SUR LA BOUCHE!
(Not on the lips!)

A Romantic Musical Comedy by Alain Resnais

With Sabine Azéma, Audrey Tautou, Pierre Arditi, Darry Cowl, Lambert Wilson

Operetta by André Barde and Maurice Yvain

Cert. PG

The Plot
Gilberte Valandray (Sabine Azéma) married her first husband (Lambert Wilson), an American called Eric Thomson, during a stay in the United States. The marriage was a failure. But since the French consul never certified the wedding, it has no legal value in France.
On returning to Paris, Gilberte has married Georges Valandray (Pierre Arditi), a rich metallurgist. Georges valandray who believes in marital bliss as long as a man is his wife's first and only husband, knows nothing about her marriage to Eric Thomson. Only Gilberte's sister, Arlette Poumaillac (Yoland Moreau), still single, knows the secret.
But what would happen if, by pure chance, Georges Valandray were to start doing business with Eric Thomson and forget a friendship with him?

Critic's Notes
Light-hearted and unusual operetta. Don't expect amazing singing or incredible music. This is not Alain Resnais's goal. What he does however is give you, a great cast (not seen singing very often), great dialogues and above all a feel for what musicals were all about in the 1930s.
If you are in for something different then you will really enjoy it.
We certainly did.
