DIRECTORY > The Wire Mill

The Wire Mill
The Wire Mill is a traditional English country inn dating from 1602 and situated on the bank of a beautiful lake. Oak beams, wooden floors on the inside, white clapboard on the outside together with our own waterwheel! We serve lashings of great value traditional food, and you will have to make sure you arrive early for our legendary Sunday Roast. In the summer be entertained by the water-skiing on the lake and the barbeque in the garden as you enjoy your lunch. We serve a broad range of traditional and contemporary dishes. Real ales and great wines compliment the food and are served with relish and always with a happy face.

This is a fantastic place. We arrived for Sunday lunch and found the place to be busy before even 1pm. We had to sit inside but still had a v of the lake, the bonus being table service inside though. THe roasts were a healthy sized portion and particularly liked the idea of adding extra yorkshire pudding. Service was great and Rebecca the manager was attentive too.

Not sure where the French link is but it is fantastic. My husband arranged an overnight getaway for my Birthday and all the staff were so attentive and helped to make the event special.
I was really impressed with our room 'Mynt'. The bath was a nice little touch! Food was fantastic and so was the company.

AVOID AVOID this place!!!!
I recently went to this hotel with my girlfriend for a relaxing weekend break. Upon arrival we were most impressed, the grounds are lovely. However when we arrived at reception we were told we could not have the room that we booked ( a double room with queen size bed) because of repair work. Instead we were carted off into what I can only describe as a box room. We were kept up ALL night because all the rooms are located in the basement and the pub/dinning area is upstairs.
We were told we could have breakfast any time before 12, so we got to the restaurant at 11.20 and were told that breakfast finished at 11.15. To my astonishment, they would not serve us breakfast at all. Another sour point is the staff, who can only be described as zero personality robot like individuals! Honestly the worst weekend experience I have ever had in any hotel.
