   Baranis

Baranis is a chic new London bar that transports you in an instant to sun-kissed Provence. With a glass of chilled rosé in hand and a leisurely game of pétanque on the go, city life seems a million miles away. Baranis is located in the atmospheric, old vaulted cellars of a former auction house on Chancery Lane where discreet booths and the UK’s only indoor pétanque court make it the perfect place to while away an evening. Baranis’ exclusively French wine list majors in Provencal wines and even its cocktails – such as thyme daiquiri and rosé mojito – draw their inspiration from the fragrances and savours of the region. A more casual oering than its upstairs neighbour, Cigalon, Baranis oers a concise daily-changing menu of dishes that might, for example, include Pan Bagna, Petit Choux Farci, Barbajuan de Blettes, Baby Squid Escabeche and Tarte Tropezienne. The menu is overseen by Julien Carlon (former head chef of Comptoir Gascon).
