free Exhibition of André Marfaing
From 14/06/2013 at 10:00 to 30/09/2013 at 18:00
Aktis Gallery will present André Marfaing's first solo exhibition in London. Along with Pierre Soulages, Hans Hartung and Franz Kline, Marfaing was one of the greatest proponents of “black painting”, an artistic movement that gained prominence following World War II as artists pursued ever more audacious forms of abstraction. Comprising a selection of thirty works spanning from the 1950s to the 1980s, this exhibition is a rare opportunity to experience the enigmatic world of Marfaing. This French lyrical abstract painter's intense, monochromatic paintings are an explosion to the eye and a subtle seduction of the viewer’s senses.
