Fahrenheit 451

Review score: * * * * *

cast: Oskar Werner, Julie Christie, Cyril Cusack

year: 1966

colour: yes

certificate: 12

director: Francois Truffaut

runtime: 112

An unusual project for Truffaut, Fahrenheit 451 is a science-fiction story, based on Ray Bradbury's novel, about a future world in which books are banned. It is also the director's first colour movie, his only one shot in a studio (in London) and in English. This underrated film has become something of a cult, however, and it boasts cinematography by Nicolas Roeg, music by Bernard Herrmann, and, last but not least, Julie Christie in a dual role.
