Released in UK cinemas on March 29, 2013
Ozon's camera enters into a stranger's house, slowly observing a middle-class family's daily life, with a young man's voice narrating his version of reality to us. An original concept expertly delivered or a step too far in the current trend for disturbing voyeurism? Ozon's latest film has certainly divided critics. FranceInLondon takes a look at this equally fascinating and troubling work.
Last year, The Artist won seven awards including Best Films: a first in the history of the BAFTAs, which until then had tended to favour Anglo-Saxon films. Although French cinema did not do as well as in 2013, "Amour" of Michael Haneke triumphed with two awards including Best Foreign Film & Best Leading Actress for Emmanuelle Riva.
