London Fashion Week 2007 Feedback

The events gathered both catwalks and an exhibition outside the Natural History Museum, the main site of the London Fashion Week for a number of years now., It also played host to London’s most creative talents and established businesses, such as Stephen Jones Millinery, Allegra Hicks, Ann-Louise Roswald…This year was particularly creative as the exhibition welcomed 44 new designers.

Thus the goal for last week was clear : the journalists from all around the world were there to gather information about new developments in Fashion.

‘’Is London Fashion Week the place where the most famous of fashion houses have to be present or is it just the birth place of new generation of talents?’’

Even if one of the biggest events of the week was Stella Mc Cartney’s show « Adidas by Stella Mc Cartney », the London Fashion Week firmly placed the emphasis on the new generation of designers: Christopher Kane, Louise Goldin, Duro Olowu, Gareth Pugh to name but a few.
The Fashion Fringe this year, once again involved an impressive judging panel, including Tom Ford, Natalie Massenet and Colin McDowell. It awarded the best designers among a choice of 4. It was the duo Aminaka Wilmont, which proved that sometime two heads are better than one, received the prestigious trophy. It was clear from the moment their models hit the catwalk that they were the hot favourites.

But concretely, what are the trends for the spring-summer 2008? The trashy ’80 style is back. Flashy colours are everywhere, but there are also some pale and washed out tones. The choice is yours. New comers are light pinks, mauves, lavender, lilac and peach.
Ra-ra skirts are back in but to be really fashionable you’ll have above all to favour asymetric style, loose-fitting at the top, maxi dresses, shirts and chiffon. Snakeskin and over-size bags are still among trendy accessories. Don’t forget to add the final touch: the decorative high heeled, shiny shoes.
