Man on Wire

Review score: * * * * *

cast: Philippe Petit

year: 2008

colour: yes

certificate: 12A

director: James Marsh

runtime: 94

As a teenager Philippe Petit dreamed of walking on a wire between the two towers of the World Trade Center which he had seen on a magazine. As an adult he finally did it in 1974. The British film director James Marsh follows first the build up and then the execution of this act focusing on Philippe Petit's own backstory. He underlines both the beauty and the insanity of what was called "the artistic crime of the century."
