Special Preview Screening
+Q&A with Director Jean-Marc Vallée, and key cast Marc-Andre Grondin
and Michel Côté at the Curzon Soho, 6:30pm – screen 1.
Q&A presented by the journalist Kaleem Aftab.
Zac is close to his loving but old-fashioned father, Gervais, and they spend some idyllic times together – where Christmas and birthdays collide - until the day comes that Zac realises he is a little different to his brothers. As this special little boy grows into manhood he ends up threatening to deny his inner self to win the affection of a father who is unable to adapt to the changing times.
From 1960 to 1980, surrounded by his brothers, Pink Floyd, Ziggy Stardust and the Rolling Stones, between motorbike escapades to impress the girls, cigarettes smoked in secret, minor and not-so-minor disagreements and, particularly, a father that he searches desperately to find, Zac relates his story.
Through music and rebellion, and also with humour, down to a mystical voyage to Jerusalem—“to the ends of the earth” as his father was always singing—where perhaps in such a far-away place he finally succeeds in finding him... C.R.A.Z.Y. is a wildly entertaining, ambitious and magical cinematic homage to the pop-culturesaturated Montreal middle class of the seventies, a portrait of a family that depicts the often extraordinary lives of ordinary people in search of happiness.
